President

Lisa Betts Klimas

Lisa is a mom of two, a Girl Scout troop leader, a community volunteer, and a nonprofit professional. She has 20 years of experience in nonprofit work as a program and grant manager, consultant, volunteer, and board member. Lisa has a Masters degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University. She served as President of a community-based nonprofit board for five years; among other roles. She has held senior positions at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, the Ohio State University Research Foundation, and the American International Health Alliance. She loves adventuring with her family, reading and listening to audiobooks, cooking, traveling, and anything involving the beach.

Treasurer

Gilda Estrada Mattison

Gilda is mom to two little humans, plus one Oliver the Cat. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, and attended UCLA where she majored in Political Science and Anthropology. After living in Japan for two years she attended Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and received her Masters degree in Public Administration in International Management. While in graduate school she met her husband, Jeff, a fellow classmate. Gilda worked in the non-profit sector for many years including the American Red Cross and United Way. She is currently a Girl Scout troop leader, active PTA volunteer, and community volunteer. She enjoys visiting National Parks with her family, time at the beach, PBS programs (including Antiques Road Show), and a nice cup of tea.

Secretary

Alejandra Albarran Moses, PhD.

Alejandra was born and raised in Southern California. She met her husband, while working on her PhD. at UC Irvine. They live in Long Beach, California and have two active, curious children: Sofia and Nicolas, aka Nico. As a working mom, Alejandra splits her days between supporting children and families as the Early Childhood Coordinator for the City of Long Beach and teaching a variety of courses at local universities. In her free time…Ha! What is free time? She is thrilled to be a part of MOMCODE. Ensuring that children and families are supported is more than just her profession, it is her passion. Alejandra is excited to be a part of creating a better community.

Programs VP

Kim Fuller, LMFT

Kim is a mom to a wonderful 12-year-old daughter, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an entrepreneur and active community volunteer. Kim has experience running nonprofit mental health programs, and also started her own company, Fuller Life Concepts, providing therapy services and life coaching. She has expertise in a wide range of topics affecting women and families. Kim is excited to join the MOMCODE Board and use her experience to support and develop our CODE programming.

Communications VP

Elaine Villanueva Bernal, EdD.

Elaine is a momma of two boys and married to her college sweetheart for over 15 years. She teaches chemistry and global climate change for the California State University system, and is a community advocate and leader in Long Beach.

Membership VP

Erin Hurley

Erin has been living in beautiful Long Beach for the past eight years. She lives with her husband, Mark; two boys, Kieran and Breccan; and their dogs and cats. She is originally from the Pacific Northwest, but has called California her home for the past 19 years; so she is starting to feel like a sort-of- local. In her free time, Erin enjoys travel and adventure, exploring nature, and a good beer. She is passionate about environmental issues and kindness and, for these reasons, is so excited to be a part of MOMCODE. She hopes that together we can make a difference in the lives of mothers, create a kinder, more inclusive next generation. Erin looks forward to you joining us on this journey!

If you have an hour or more per month to build our community or are able to help with a one-time task, MOMCODE is seeking volunteers with the following skills: web design, social media content creation, communications, marketing, program support, fundraising, partnerships, newsletter, writing, bookkeeping, and administrative support.
